A Festival of Shackleton
In the City of Discovery
How is one of the world’s most celebrated explorers connected to Scotland and the City of Discovery? This December, the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and Dundee Heritage Trust present ‘A Festival of Shackleton’, an exploration of Ernest Shackleton’s connections to Dundee and Scotland, that shaped some of his most legendary expeditions.
Alongside DHT, RSGS, and the Athy Shackleton Museum, speakers include:
* The Endurance 22 Team, featuring Expedition Leader John Shears and Subsea Manager Nico Vincent, who will recount their remarkable journey to locate Shackleton’s lost ship, Endurance, and share stunning images from the wreck.
* John Geiger, Chief Executive of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, will reflect on his participation in the expedition that led to the discovery of the Quest, Shackleton’s final ship.
Come along to this once in a lifetime gathering of experts and discover lesser-known stories about this legendary explorer.
There is a number of VIP ‘supporter’ tickets that are also available, which includes access to a drinks reception with the speakers at Discovery Point prior to the event.
Festival attendees will be eligible for half price admission to Discovery Point in December. Terms & conditions apply – see dundeeheritage.co.uk for details.
